Interview Magazine and Neil Barrett join forces to grace us with a capsule collection: Interview Hybrid Series by Neil Barrett is exclusively available in 4 stores throughout the world. Amongst them, Leclaireur. For the first time in its history, the magazine has chosen to extend a pure and simple carte blanche. The British designer was given full access to archives and the freedom to use them whoever way he saw fit.
Toying with some of Interview’s most iconic covers, Barrett has imagined his dream cast. Jay de Niro, Mark DiCaprio, Elizabeth Redmayne, Rocky Elton, Brad Bieber and otherworldly consorts strike the pose on printed t-shirts, sweatshirts and hoodies. Like patched-up arty collages, each piece bears what has become the designer’s signature: sharp, drastic cuts.
Created in 1969 by Andy Warhol, Gerard Malanga, John Wilcock and Paul Morrissey, Interview Magazine, once known as “The Crystal Ball of Pop”, saw its pages fill up with countless artists, musicians, creatives, whose conversations on paper livened up dinner conversations. Barrett selected Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, Elton John, A$AP Rocky, Robert de Niro, Eddie Redmayne, Justin Bieber, and Elizabeth Taylor, amongst the wild personalities to have shared the magazine’s columns, over the years, with Kate Moss, Scarlett Johansson, Grace Jones, Björk and many more.
Collaborating might be a first for the magazine, but Neil Barrett’s been around. Since the creation of his brand in 1999, after a stop by Gucci and Prada, the simplicity-obsessed-designer has recently worked with Puma, as well as Zaha Hadid to create his concept stores.
