ILARIA NISTRI Walk the Marbled Line
Ilaria Nistri’s collection draws inspiration from marble, a material used in the most iconic human constructions, from Versailles to the Taj Mahal. Its texture and veins infuse her geometric shapes. « Marble Echoes Journey » — and the sacred emotion it exudes — invite us to follow the Great Marble Road.
Almost like an homage, through a series of lines and prints, Nistri has created lengthy silhouettes, layering fitted pieces to break up the black and white silhouettes. She works with leather, ripping through it, adding zippers in the back or on the shoulders, to build up new volumes. The Italian designer toys with shapes, strengthening body lines, elongating them with wide pants, making pajamas like togas, falling lightly around statuesque bodies while anchoring it strongly into the ground.
Ilaria Nistri grew up in Florence, in the uncontested reign of art and fashion, home of the Pitti Uomo since 1972. The law graduate turned to creation, encouraged by her father, the owner of a textile production company, where she developed her unique craft. Since her first collection, presented in 2006 during Paris Fashion Week, the designer has imagined the wardrobe of a « sophisticated amazon, a combative woman, aware of her strengths and weaknesses ». Her flowing lines, dark tones and geometrical patterns create an androgynous and sculptural silhouette.
