Uma Wang China Girl

Before launching her eponymous brand, Uma Wang studied at the China Textile University, and at Central Saint Martins in London. She spent ten years working for several Chinese labels, before taking the leap. Vogue China and Italia were quick to notice her work, and she began showing her collections in Shanghai, London, Milan and Paris. Uma Wang was also one of the designers to collaborate with LECLAIREUR for Shigoto Project’s first edition, alongside Greg Lauren, Ziggy Chen, ...

A glimpse at her garments is all it takes to understand Uma Wang’s process. Steering away from fast fashion, from the what’s-trendy-right-now obsession, Wang creates pieces with character, covered in abstract patterns and subtil details. Oversize, yet precise, Uma Wang’s esthetics stand as the meeting point between the East and the West.
