Maticevski Belle of the Ball
Toni Matičevski is an Australian designer known for his statuesque silhouettes underlining a timeless and modern femininity.
After studying at the Melbourne Institute of Technology, he started working with Donna Karan in New York, before flying to Paris to work on Cerruti’s womenswear collection. Back in Melbourne, he launched his own eponymous brand. Ten years later, he created costumes for the “Miracle” ballet and, in 2011, for Aviary, before creating unique pieces for the Victoria National Gallery’s permanent collection.
Matičevski investigates the past, experiments with cuts and drapes, reimagines traditional silhouettes and infuses his unique know-how into each piece, giving it depth and volume. His evening dresses are pure and light as can be, yet sculptural and simple both in the way they are cut, and in the way he uses color.
