Kijima Takayuki Japan on my Mind
Fall/Winter 2013 is the season that witnessed the rising of Japan hat brand Kijima Takayuki. With its minimalistic esthetic, the brand has since explored refinement through lines and curves, to the point of creating collections of pieces which could each pass for timeless classics.
Takayuki soared in 1994 with his first label, Coeur, before launching MODISTE Limited Company in 1996. The Japanese designer then founded his brand, building on his 20 years in the industry and the five years he spent alongside master Hirata Akio, who taught him couture techniques.
Kijima Takayuki uses a unique craft that elevates his hats' functionality. The level of craftsmanship is so high, the house has been offered collaborations with influential brands such as UNDERCOVER and TAKAHIROMIYASHATA The Soloist.
