Two words are all it takes to present Nick Wooster and Lardini’s collaboration: elegance, evidence.
Their shared vision of masculinity, intensified by the Italian tailoring tradition, brings to menswear sharp and precise cuts, alongside with graphic elements. The combination graces their silhouettes with the kind of modern, laid-back touch LECLAIREUR has been fond of for the last 35 years.
Nick Wooster, both a dandy and an urban explorer, has long shown a refined sense of style, right up to his mustache. «WoostGod» – as some of his admirers call him – has become one of the most praised figures in fashion. Half a million followers on Instagram don’t lie, and GQ US has even presented him with the « alpha male of American street style » title. We kid you not, such a thing exists, and Nick Wooster is it.
The Italian clothing company was founded by Luigi Lardini in 1978. In Nickelson Wooster, it found a collaborator with more than 30 years spent within the fashion industry – from buyer for Barney’s to head of design for Ralph Lauren, or even advisor to Thom Browne – this alpha male knows – like few others – how to handle both sides of the fashion world: the creative one, and the cut-through business one.
Wooster + Lardini dropped their first collection at Pitti Uomo in Florence in 2014, before revealing a tailored AW16 line where Oriental inspirations cross military and western influences. Mandarin-collar shirts meet kimono-jackets with functional elements like wide pockets, kaki green and subdued colors play with joyful details like color shades or patchwork patterns. Every detail counts. Topstitches or crinkled and washed-out effects, everything is there to give the clothing line a vintage elegance that always plants firm roots in our modern present time.
