Part rugged asphalt, part diamond in the rough, Giorgio Brato’s talent with leather has led the brand to a masculine and vintage interpretation of fashion.
Some are born with a golden spoon in their mouth, or grow up to eat out of the finest china. Giorgio Braschi’s grew up in a world of leather, in a familial environment. In 2001, following his clan’s footsteps, he launched a line of upscale leather jackets, a testament to his specific view on fashion.
With a passion for artisanal techniques, the designer laces his creations with a sense of rawness and a refined soul, shaping them as hybrids, somewhere between the protective and comfortable biker’s jacket – like that which he made in the early stages of his career – and the modern urban vest. The finesse of his craftsmanship, as well as his use of nappa – a remarkably smooth and supple leather — give every single one of his pieces a silk-like, fluid lightness. The jackets, coats, shoes and handbags are patinated with very specific dyes.
This approach allows for leathers to evolve with their wearer, shaping into their morphology. Giorgio Brato’s familial legacy has steered the designer towards the use of organic cotton linings, imprinted with Bologna’s historical map. A piece of Italy, of sorts, which the designer carries forwards, along with his unique savoir-faire.
And for the collector nestled within us, Giorgio Brato has teamed up with Ducati, to honor the legendary bike – born, just like him, in Bologna – respectful of the House’s vintage philosophy.
