« Broken Formality », Deepti’s latest collection brings together strength and delicacy, flexibility and rigidity, with perfect balance in sight, like a proud sequel to the Suicide Vest, her recent and exceptional technical challenge.
Deepti Barth creates pieces that peak our curiosity, surprise us with their construction, born from an expert understanding of shapes and materials and from the avant-garde vision of the German designer.
Her refined, cold toned, blazer jackets, are a testament to her personal sense of esthetics, and a reminiscence of aseptic cities, stone-cold pavements. The broken glass on the jackets’ lapels are wearable mirror versions of the Suicide Vest: the cracked glass underlines the vulnerability of our minds, and the human being’s intrinsic frailty.
On the back of certain pieces, stitches, like fracture lines, unveil a touch of skin. Seemingly on the verge of breaking, shedding its protective attributes to gain flexibility, the garments offer a newfound freedom of movement.
In 2014, after a seven-year long training alongside Carol Christian Poell, Deepti Barth founded her brand, reinventing a classical menswear wardrobe through experimental techniques, constantly trying new materials, even mixing liquid silver with fabric to create a progressive oxidization of the piece, evolving with its wearer’s lifestyle.
