SOLO EXPERIENCE – Episode Two: Sébastien Grandgambe

The visual and musical stroll continues and takes us from the rue Hérold’s muted backdrop, inhabited by Alejandra Ribera’s voice, to the Fornasetti perfume bar at LECLAIREUR Boissy d’Anglas with the sound of Sébastien Grandgambe’s cello.

Suddenly, the bow comes to life, liberated. With each vibration of the cello’s strings, in a neverending tension, a selection of pieces with details that inspire and enthrall: prints on Uma Wang’s Shigoto Limited jacket quiver, a velvet touch by Haider Ackermann, white wings surging from an Aganovich black vest.

Since earning an undisputed First Prize at the Conservatoire de Paris, Sebastien Grandgambe has not been « making » music. Rather, music has been his very essence, running through him, carrying him, shielding him with magic. The former member of French band Yodelice now collaborates with Sophie Maurin, Marie Modiano and Peter Von Poehl. The composer, who started studying cello at the tender age of 6, is known to create visceral, organic and haunting melodies as well as arrangements, that fill both the surrounding space and the soul, as heard – and felt – recently in Liquides Imaginaire’s latest campaign.

For LECLAIREUR’s Solo Experience, the cellist has imagined an original, intense and unique composition to match Boissy d’Anglas’ qualities: a stinging pace, notes as rich as fabrics, emphasis of the deeper blacks and most vivid gold, complete with delicate designs.
