The work of Tobia Scarpa includes real­i­sa­tions in the field of archi­tec­ture, restora­tion and design. He begins his design car­reer in the Fifties work­ing for Vetrerie Venini and he col­lab­o­rates with other com­pa­nies. He received many awards: in 1969 the “Com­passo d’Oro”, in 1992 the “IF Indus­trie Forum Design Han­nover” and in 2008 the “Com­passo d’oro” to the career. Some of the objects he has designed are exhib­ited in the most impor­tant muse­ums of the world like Lou­vre in Paris and Moma in NY. Since 2002 Scarpa has taught in the Design Depart­ment of the IUAV Uni­ver­sity. In Octo­ber 2004 the IIC in Chicago hosted a one-person exhi­bi­tion of his work in the fields of archi­tec­ture and design and in 2005 in Los Angeles.

Since 1970 the his­tory of man­u­fac­tur­ing sil­ver objects has been renewed by San Lorenzo. The com­pany inte­grates the tra­di­tional skills of the sil­ver­smith with tech­nol­ogy bor­rowed from appli­ca­tions out­side its world and intro­duces an unusual way of look­ing at sil­ver: that of the architects-designers who are asked to cre­ate sil­ver objects, giv­ing pref­er­ence to the nature of the mate­r­ial but recall­ing for­mal conventions.
