craig green Fall 2015, a new uniform
“The idea of the uniform lies heavy on menswear for Fall 2015, and Green was no exception to the rule of designers who are brooding this season on the meaning of uniforms. In his mind, it has to do with protection. The padding and layering of many of his looks created formidable silhouettes. Balancing them were simple white jersey tops grabbed and twisted into shape on the models’ torsos, then stitched like the seams on Frankenstein’s monster. “Restriction and release” was his formula”.

Yesterday, September 24th, Kunihiko Morinaga was at L’Eclaireur Sévigné to celebrate — with saké — his “A Real Un Real Age” exhibition and the launching of Anrealage’s AW 2014/15 collection, and also the success of his first parisian show.
A wonderful evening, Japan style. Thank you Kunihiko!

Modernism meets brutalism: why we love it
Popularized by Paul Evans in the mid-century, the use of metal following an Abstract Brutalist aesthetics gave rise to a whole pendant of American modernism. Between sculpture and furniture, those patchwork-metal pieces cemented Mr. Evans’s reputation as America’s foremost proponent of Brutalism.
“Brutalist design is the antidote to pretty” — said Jad Attal, modern specialist at Rago Arts. “It’s asymmetric and characterized by repeating geometries and shapes that can be grotesque and even emotionally distressing. They are alien, unsettling. That’s what makes them so interesting to look at and to live with.”
Following this path, Don Drumm appears as one of the great American 20th century artist who has contributed to the brutalist art genre with his whimsical and abstract metal works. Working primarily in pewter and cast aluminum, his original works include a 60’s cast aluminum table we are proud to add to our brutalist design selection at L’Eclaireur Boissy d’Anglas.

Hotspot: Terrace Garden at Royal Monceau – Raffles Paris
Its first season since the opening of this 5-star hotel and it was much anticipated. Not so much a traditional terrace here, but more of a garden courtyard conceived by Philippe Starck and brought to life by landscaper Louis Benech. A very mature-looking area for all that, using trees and fixtures around a central basin and which serves both restaurants (La Cuisine and Il Carpaccio) as well as the Bar Long. Round tables topped with white table cloths and enough space between them to preserve intimacy.

Highlights of Milan Design Week 2012
Comme des Garçons – White Drama
As someone who breaks with stylistic convention, Rei Kawakubo has transformed the classic fashion show and changed the codes of haute couture. With her almost monochrome models, she has magnified the major stages of life: birth, marriage, death and transcendence. Don’t miss the Comme des Garçons — White Drama installation at Les Docks, and discover the Comme des Garçons 2012 spring-summer collection.
Comme des Garçons – White Drama The Docks — Cité de la Mode et du Design 34 quai d’Austerlitz, 75013 Paris www.paris-docks-en-seine.fr From Tuesday to Sunday, from 10 am to 6 pm, except public holidays. Until 7 October 2012

The Duke Of Heels
The last year, for the first time, the Greek designer Dukas showcased his Spring/Summer 2012 collection at TRANOΪ during Paris Fashion Week… And we fell in love with it!! His inspiration from the classic ballet shoes, their satin ribbons and the 14mm silhouette heels are completely irresistible.
Back to the seventies !
Since last year, the seventies are a great source of inspiration for labels like Azzaro and Emilio Pucci. The crochet evening dress that Jane Birkin wore in 1969 or the embellished gown in 1973 are totally coming back on the catwalks… And we love it!
Pucci: Pre Fall Preview
We were so eager to discover the Pucci PreFall Winter Collection this season! Peter Dundas keeps us dreaming with his killer backless dresses, beautiful prints (we love the poncho print shirt!!) and supreme lace work… Daring fashionistas will be spotted in the fabulous & fitted gold stud capris and dresses! Watch out girls, our fall nights are going to be long…
With love from Milan
