New York based, ready-to-wear brand Monse was founded in 2015 by Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia. Their first collection was presented for SS16. Every house needs its signature piece. Monse has chosen to sublimate the shirt, which is reworked, reinvented, becomes a blouse, a gown, transitioning seamlessly from day to night.
Fernando Garcia and Laura Kim met at Oscar de la Renta, where they worked for more than 10 years. In September 2016, they were appointed, together, artistic directors of the iconic House.
Monse’s Fall/Winter 2017 collection took the feminine classical wardrobe and shook things up, to create a dynamique silhouette that toys with asymmetry, slits, and ruffles. White flannel and grey or kaki tweeds meet sequins and brightly colored velvets and satins.
