« Fashion is all about attitude »
Marta Marques and Paulo Almeida have made theirs Helmut Lang’s adage. Together, they’ve been busy, creating youthful, spontaneous, free and nostalgic silhouettes, reminiscent of the 90s esthetics, rich with ripped, wrinkled or frayed denim and flashy pop colors.
Entwined since fashion school, they respectively worked at Vivienne Westwood and Preen before jumping the line, hand in hand, to create their brand in 2011.
Marques ’ Almeida was launched on Fashion East, Lulu Kennedy’s platform.
Six seasons later, under the Newgen flag (UK’s Fashion Council), they were awarded the LVMH Prize, rewarding fashion’s most promising young talents.
For their Sring/Summer 2017 collection, Marques ’ Almeida have used denim as a trademark. Raw or bleached, with frayed edges, the material takes a very modern-western, late 90s-influenced vibe under the London spotlights, paired with light colors, ruffles, and lamé fabrics.
