Around the world
Born in Colombia, Arckermann was adopted by French globe-trotting parents who raised him in Ethiopia, Maghreb, Iran, the Netherlands and Belgium.
His diverse cultural mixed background has been inspiring his creations since he first started studying at Antwerp’s Royal Academy of Fine Arts in 1994.
Haider Ackermann launched his own brand in 2002, and presented his first show during the Fall/Winter 02-03 Paris Fashion Week.
In 2010, Ackermann created his first menswear “wardrobe” – in his own words: pieces inspired by his Woman collections. Fascinated with Yves Saint Laurent’s silhouettes, Haider Ackermann has been infusing his creations with refinement, lightness and slick lines, toying with colors and, contrasts, overlaying and draping, mixing fluidity and rigorousness.
In September 2016, Ackerman was appointed Artistic Director of the Italian House Berluti.
From velvet to lamé, Ackermann toys with light and its reflections for Fall/Winter 2016. Skinny silhouettes vary from fitted to loose, ethnic infused volumes, ranging in various greys, shaken up with fuchsia and blood red for women, or royal blue and vibrant kaki for men.
